Chevrolet Silverado 3500

The Chevrolet Silverado was introduced in 1999 as the successor to Chevrolet’s long running C/K full-size and heavy duty pickup truck series. The first generation of Chevy Silverado’s ran from 1999-2006 and these vehicles are referred to as the “Classic Body Style”. In mid-2006 Chevrolet switched production to the 2007 model year which, among other upgrades, saw a body style change. This production switch marks the end of the first generation and the beginning of the second generation which ran from 2007-2014.

The second generation Chevrolet Silverado’s featured a redesigned exterior, interior, frame and suspension along with power increases on certain engines. The second generation Chevy Silverado’s were designed by taking their styling cues from the Chevrolet Colorado pickups and feature improved fuel economy compared to their predecessors as the vehicle’s physical styling greatly improved the aerodynamics of the truck in comparison to the first generation Chevrolet Silverado’s.

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado christened the third generation of the series which feature frame and chassis improvements that increase performance while decreasing the overall weight of the vehicle which leads to improved fuel economy. Most of the third generation Chevy Silverado models feature a wealth of tech upgrades in the cab including Bluetooth capabilities, USB ports and the ability to stream Pandora Radio from iPhone devices.

Many Chevrolet Silverados come factory equipped with remote keyless entry. Many base models are equipped with key fob remotes to lock and unlock the vehicle doors and some higher trim levels of the Chevrolet Silverado have car remotes that are equipped with remote start as well.
